Meeting the “Queen”

Today proved to be a great start to the Jubilee weekend.  Brentwood’s “Queen for a Day” came to visit our shop as part of her Crown Street tour.

Inspired by all the ceremonies celebrating Queen Elizabeth’s 60 year reign, Jane Bennett, owner of Bennetts Funeral Directors and pillar of Brentwood, decided to seek out that unsung hero in our own community and treat her to a bit of pomp and circumstance.   Jane approached the Brentwood Gazette, who came on board as an enthusiastic partner.  You can read more about the search for Brentwood’s “Queen for a Day” in the Bennetts blog.

We were delighted to have winner, Samantha Hayward, come visit us, along with Brentwood Mayor, Ann Coe.  Samantha browsed our Baby Boutique collection before posing for a very regal photo:

(L to R) Me, Lin from French Quarter, Samantha the Queen for a Day, Brentwood Mayor Ann Coe, Jane Benett, and Caroline (Sam's "lady in waiting")

Sam is indeed a lovely lady, who contributes so much to her family, Scouts/Brownies, PTA, and  church, all whilst being the full time carer of her 94-year-old grandfather-in-law and battling osteoarthritis without complaining.

All the shops and salons along Crown Street treated her to vouchers and pampering sessions, which she richly deserves.
